Marijn has been teaching the harp for over twelve years in the Netherlands and the UK and has experience teaching pupils of all ages and all ability levels. She teaches the harp privately from her home in The Hague.
​
She uses various methods and repertoire from all over the world. Lessons are tailored to the individual with an emphasis on teaching pupils how to practise effectively and efficiently. Musical games are used during lessons for young children.

about
Marijn Abbink is interested in the musician’s world, from the very first music lessons to professional performances. This is why she has completed the Master of Science in Performance Science programme at the Royal College of Music in London, in 2017, with Distinction. Newly gained knowledge in regard to music education and music psychology has informed her teaching and she is particularly interested in the one-to-one teaching relationship, deliberate practice, and lifelong learning.

She has completed undergraduate studies at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands, studying with Edward Witsenburg and Meija Blok. She has also studied at Trinity Laban in London with Imogen Barford and Gabriella Dall’Olio. After having taught at various music schools in the Netherlands, Marijn worked as a private teacher in London and has over twelve years of experience. Marijn also has experience with sitting on examination panels.

As a performer, she has given performances in the Netherlands, England, France and Italy, including solos with orchestras. Other performances include numerous concerts with a flute-harp duo, recordings for radio and TV, and orchestral tours in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria.

In 2018, Marijn presented a paper on the one-to-one teaching setting at the Music Education Conference at the University of York.
She currently works as Education Policy Officer at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
